Job Description

We are currently seeking an HR Generalist, who has experience overseeing a one-person HR Department, to interact with all levels of staff in a fast paced environment.
The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for the day to day operations of the Human Resource Department. The HR Generalist administers and coordinates implementation of human resource services, policies, procedures and programs.
This person will report directly to the President.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Recruit for varying levels of positions and distribute qualified candidates to hiring managers and/or supervisor
  • Institute and administer prospective employee qualification testing and interviewing standards
  • Conduct, coordinate and oversee all new employee orientations and training programs
  • Process and review all personnel changes including but not limited to, new hires; terminations; salary, status, tax and banking changes by coordinating with the HR/Payroll department
  • Assist with payroll on a weekly basis with support and back from the Accounting Manager
  • Work with the Owner/CEO communicating and processing employee benefits in compliance with plan documents and enrollment periods
  • Act as administrator of employee health and welfare programs, handling all benefit questions and processing benefit enrollment paperwork in a timely manner
  • Work with Accounting Manager and/or the Bookkeeper to reconcile benefit invoices
  • Responsible for tracking and managing the performance appraisal process
  • Responsible for tracking the timeliness of employee reviews
  • Update and maintain all quality documents as it relates to HR
  • Maintain and update time and attendance software
  • Responsible for setting up and maintaining confidential HR files
  • Administer and maintain HRIS system
  • Maintain all federal, state and local government agency regulations; generate and maintain reports, statistics and legal documents, including I-9 forms, EEO compliance, FMLA, COBRA, OSHA and affirmative action status documentation
  • Coordinate with the Executive Assistant to handle employee appreciation events and company activities
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining employee manual
  • Responsible for updating and maintaining job descriptions, in electronic and paper format while working with appropriate Manager and/or Supervisor
  • Process and complete employment verification requests, when necessary
  • Manage and deliver all newly published HR policies, documents and changes
  • Act as the management and employee liaison on issues and/or concerns to ensure that all employee matters are handled with consistency and fairness
  • Advises Owner/CEO of potential problem areas, while recommending solutions as appropriate
  • Assist and support executive management with tasks as assigned and completed in a timely manner

  • Bachelor's Degree in HR or related field of study
  • Must have a minimum of three years' experience in the human resource field
  • Must have the ability to handle highly confidential information with discretion while maintaining a high level of integrity
  • Must have the ability to multi-task and successfully function in a fast-paced, cross-functional manufacturing environment
  • Must demonstrate strong leadership skills with the ability to gain insight into organizational dynamics
  • Must have strong administrative and organizational skills while demonstrating a high level of attention to detail, accuracy and follow-up
  • Must have excellent written, verbal, listening and communication skills
  • Must be able to work with minimal supervision
  • Must be proficient with MS Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
