Staffing Now, a division of SNI Companies, has partnered with our client to recruit a full-time Research Clerk for a position based in Houston, TX. The primary responsibility of the research clerk is to research consumer bankruptcy cases filed in the Southern District of Texas and review bankruptcy schedules and statements for outstanding taxes. The clerk is also responsible for entering data and updating the coding in our system. Additionally, the clerk will prepare, and e-file Notices of Appearance and Proof of Claims as needed. We are looking for candidates with strong research and multitasking abilities, basic math skills (including interest calculation), and creative problem-solving. While familiarity with bankruptcy schedules and statements is preferred, it is not required.
Principal Duties:
- Research new Chapter 13 and Chapter 7 bankruptcy cases for taxes owed to clients.
- Review PACER case filing reports for taxes owed across multiple offices.
- Analyze Petitions, Schedules, Statements of Financial Affairs, and amendments for outstanding taxes.
- Review mail and emails daily for additional bankruptcy cases requiring claims preparation or amendments.
- Prepare Proofs of Claim, Notices of Appearance, and amendments in a timely manner.
- Input new case information into Bank Tool and update with changes to tax claims.
- Prepare Proofs of Claim for court costs and fees
- Contact firm staff and jurisdictions for additional tax information.

- Proficient in typing, research, and basic number calculations.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office, Excel, and general computer usage.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; bankruptcy knowledge preferred.
The compensation for this position starts at $16.00 an hour.
