Medical Collector

Staffing Now Houston, TX (Onsite) Contract to Hire

Staffing Now is seeking a detail-oriented and driven Medical Collector to join our clients growing team. This role is responsible for managing outstanding patient accounts, ensuring timely collection of payments, and resolving billing or insurance discrepancies. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of healthcare billing practices, insurance guidelines, and a commitment to providing excellent patient service.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a portfolio of patient accounts to ensure timely collection of outstanding balances.
  • Contact patients, insurance companies, and third-party payers regarding overdue accounts.
  • Research, analyze, and resolve billing discrepancies and denied claims.
  • Negotiate and set up payment arrangements as needed.
  • Document all collection activities in compliance with company and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with billing, coding, and patient services teams to ensure account accuracy.
  • Maintain knowledge of HIPAA, insurance regulations, and payer requirements.

Qualifications:

  • 2+ years of experience in medical collections, billing, or accounts receivable (preferred).
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, CPT/ICD-10 coding, and insurance claim processes.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency with EMR/EHR and billing software.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage high-volume accounts.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; additional healthcare or billing certifications a plus.
