Vice President – Mergers & Acquisitions (Sales Focus)

About the Opportunity
A leading middle-market advisory firm is seeking an experienced Vice President of Mergers & Acquisitions with a proven track record in sales, business development, and client acquisition. This is a high-impact role responsible for generating new client relationships, driving revenue growth, and guiding companies through strategic transactions including mergers, acquisitions, recapitalizations, and business sales.
The ideal candidate will combine deep M&A knowledge with strong sales acumen, capable of building trust with business owners, investors, and executives while managing complex deal processes.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead business development efforts to originate new M&A opportunities, focusing on companies in the $5M–$250M enterprise value range.
  • Build, nurture, and expand relationships with business owners, private equity firms, family offices, and strategic buyers.
  • Develop and execute targeted sales strategies to drive firm growth and market presence.
  • Oversee the preparation of client presentations, proposals, pitch decks, and engagement materials.
  • Manage all aspects of the transaction process including due diligence, negotiations, financial analysis, and closing support.
  • Mentor and collaborate with associates, analysts, and junior staff on deal execution.
  • Track and report pipeline activity using HubSpot CRM (required).
  • Represent the firm at industry events, conferences, and networking forums to generate brand visibility and client leads.

Required Skills & Qualifications
  • Minimum of 8 successfully closed business broker deals.
  • Proven track record of success in M&A business development or investment banking sales.
  • Hands-on experience with HubSpot CRM to manage pipeline, track interactions, and forecast revenue.
  • 7–10+ years of relevant experience in investment banking, corporate development, or advisory firms.
  • Strong financial acumen: ability to interpret financial statements, valuations, and deal structures.
  • Exceptional sales and negotiation skills; ability to close complex engagements with C-suite executives and business owners.
  • Established network within private equity, venture capital, and corporate strategic buyers.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills; polished and persuasive with senior stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead deal teams and manage the end-to-end transaction process.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business, Economics, or related field (MBA preferred).

Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience leading M&A sell-side engagements for middle-market clients.
  • Track record of exceeding revenue targets in a sales-driven environment.
  • Deep knowledge of valuation methodologies, transaction structuring, and capital markets.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with ability to operate in a lean, fast-moving organization.
