Payroll and Benefits Specialist

Our client is seeking an experienced and motivated Payroll professionals to join their team. They have multiple automotive dealerships across the DFW Metroplex.

The Payroll & Benefits Specialist is responsible for directing and planning the day-to-day operations of all timekeeping and payroll activities. The administrator is also responsible for the group benefits programs. A strong customer service mindset and a self starter is a must in order to be successful in this role.

The successful candidate will be required to monitor and accumulate all time and pay information for accurate payroll processing, deliver quality benefits plans, improves existing programs and assists in developing new programs, and supervises and monitors benefits administration as well as providing analytical and technical support in the delivery of the benefits programs.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assists hiring managers with on-boarding of new employees, verifying I-9 is complete and all new hire paperwork is processed.
  • Process the payroll for both hourly and salaried employees, working closely with Accounting and HR to ensure accuracy, proper protocols and processes are in place including: coordinating the capture of time/attendance information daily, computing wage and overtime payments, calculating and recording payroll deductions, inspecting, auditing and verifying payroll registers and reports for accuracy and completeness prior to transmission.
  • Process any special payrolls as required such as commission and bonus payments.
  • Research and resolve any discrepancies by collecting and analyzing information.
  • Manage and maintain Company time and attendance system to capture and report hourly employee work time; coordinate with assigned timekeepers to ensure accuracy and obtain approvals.
  • Maintain garnishment records and coordinate document processing
  • Review and process quarterly and year-end payroll procedures, including reviewing tax statements and other applicable quarterly and year-end documents.
  • Assists with benefits administration by preparing benefit eligibility notices, tracking and assisting with enrollment and running and submitting invoice for supplemental benefits for payment.
  • Reviews and processes employee electronic data requests in system of record
  • Maintains employee files in accordance with company and regulatory requirements
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, storing, securing and destroying employee records. Process new hires, terminations, status changes, tax changes, deductions, direct deposits, time sheet data, pay rate changes, garnishments and expense reimbursements in the payroll system.
  • Assists with other HR duties as needed

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Annually runs and completes EEO-1 report for review and filing.
  • Complies reports from HRIS data as needed.
  • Completes all year end reporting including but not limited 1095s and W2s
  • Other duties as necessary to ensure the success of the HR function.


  • Bachelor's degree in human resources or related field and/or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years in an HR support role with equivalent experience in payroll processing and benefits administration.
  • Working knowledge of federal and state regulations and ability to deal sensitively with confidential material.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.
  • Excellent organization and communication skills (with internal employees and external/ 3rd party vendors) with a strong customer service mindset and the ability to take initiative without being told.
  • Paycom experience a plus.
