Our client, located in Princeton, has a great opportunity for a Payroll Specialist to join a growing team. Note: Our client is working remotely 100% through COVID-19 however, this position is office based when they reopen
We are seeking an strong Excel person who's skilled with interacting and communicating with all levels throughout an organization. The Payroll Specialist is part of a team responsible for processing the various payrolls accurately and on-time.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the efficient, (timely and accurate) processing of payroll, handle employee inquiries and work with other team members to ensure payroll is processed accurately and in compliance with statutory regulations. Payroll Point of Contact in the absence of their Manager.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the payroll processing workflow and tasks necessary to accomplish accurate and timely payment to all employees
  • Update payroll records by entering changes in exemptions, insurance coverage, savings deductions, job titles, and department/division transfers
  • Process payroll and final checks when needed
  • Assist Payroll Supervisor in calculating bonuses and commissions where applicable
  • Assisting Payroll Supervisor with timesheet and payroll adjustment reviews before payroll closeout
  • Assist with running payroll reports ensuring accurate processing of payroll
  • Helping all locations with correct employee allocation and accesses as needed
  • Ensure payroll is processed timely and accurately while maintaining confidentiality.
  • Maintain accurate and acceptable electronic files on each employee in accordance with company policy and procedure
  • Research, analyze and resolve discrepancies, reporting to management as needed
  • Audit and ensure proper onboarding of new employees
  • Processing expense reports
  • May be required to perform other duties as assigned or as needed


Our Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • 5 + years in processing payroll in both hourly and salary for 200+ employees required
  • Experience processing payroll with a multi-country, multi-state, multi-unit organization is required.
  • Advanced competency in Microsoft Excel, Office, QuickBooks and NetSuiteAccounting Software packages.
  • Analytical mind with strong conceptional and problem-solving skills
  • Meticulous attention to detail with superb organizational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • Critical thinker with high proficiency in math.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
  • Solid knowledge of accounts payable; billing; budgets; deposits, taxes
  • Have an eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Mastery over numbers and being quick with numerical calculations.


Highly Preferred:

  • Global payroll experience is a plus
  • Experience with QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar accounting software.
  • Experience with employee benefits such retirement accounts and FSA.
  • Experience with expense software Concur is a plus.
  • All candidates must pass the required background and drug screening.
