Job Description

Position Responsibilities

  • Perform title searches on real property securing home equity lines of credit accounts using various public sites; determine the current owner and pertinent events occurring since the Bank's security interest has been recorded.
  • Independently resolve complex property ownership changes resulting from real property title transfers since the original mortgage was recorded.
  • Prepare affidavits in accordance with Mass General Laws and record in the appropriate registry of deeds or land court prior to the expiration of the original mortgage.
  • Perform all duties associated with the home equity renewal process, including preparing customer correspondence, adhering to flood regulations and performing core system maintenance.
  • Determine the existence of an estate filing in probate court and file Notice of Claims as assigned.
  • Review and decision requests from customers to approve the conveyance of real property securing a Bank owned residential mortgage or home equity loan/line to a Trust in accordance with secondary marketing standards and Massachusetts General Law.
  • Perform all duties related to partial collateral release requests on the Bank's residential mortgage or home equity portfolios.
  • Document and maintain procedures for all applicable functions.
  • All duties and special projects as assigned.

  • Position Qualifications

  • College degree or degree in paralegal studies preferred. In leiu of a degree, prior work experience with title rundowns will be considered.
  • Minimum of two years experience in performing real property title searches using applicable city/town tax assessor sites and state land records required.
  • Experience working in a law firm specializing in residential real estate preferred.
  • Must have excellent organizational skills; be detail-oriented, accurate and self-motivated.
  • Proven ability to solve complex issues, think independently and complete assigned tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines while providing timely reporting to management on outstanding issues.
