Job Description

We are currently seeking an experienced legal secretary with litigation experience to provide administrative support to multiple attorneys at a large firm in the Hartford area.
Major duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provides administrative support to multiple attorneys.
  • Prepares legal documents, forms, letters, memorandum and reports from handwritten copy, dictation or transcription using technology and applications.
  • Maintains attorney diary by scheduling appointments and time sensitive due dates, while considering court rules or other requirements. Assists in the scheduling of court, client and other appointments. Contacts related parties by telephone or correspondence confirming appointments and related information.
  • Opens new files and completes necessary paperwork.
  • Opens, scans, logs, sorts and distributes incoming mail, locating and attaching associated files required for response, if applicable. Prepares all outgoing mail, facsimiles and special hand deliveries.
  • Maintains case files by filing necessary information according to document or other instruction
  • May provide/obtain technical information to/from co-workers and other firm personnel regarding departmental records, procedures and policies to solve problems or respond to specific requests for assistance.
  • Answers telephone, screens and directs calls and provides necessary information to caller
  • Enters and edits attorney's time sheets on a daily basis according to time entry policy and procedure
  • Performs other duties as assigned and appropriate to one's level of experience.
  • Effectively communicate with witnesses, clients, colleagues and partners.
  • Electronically file legal documents with courts.

Must have at least 2 years legal secretarial/assistant experience.
Litigation experience.
