Junior Graphic Designer: Northampton area

Overview:
This person works as an in-house graphic designer and may assist in pre-press operations. This position is full time, 40hrs/week, in the marketing department. The graphic designer is involved in producing high quality design work for print media, electronic media, and prototype products under the direction of the art director. This position involves working in the marketing depart office.
Core Responsibilities:

  • Under the direction of the art director, create layouts and finished graphics for print projects including catalog work, packaging, corporate collateral, and trade show signage, as well as converting design concepts to images for web and video usage.
  • Run customized marketing materials and prototype artwork
  • Designing and sending e-blasts
  • Work with external and in-house printers on a regular basis to ensure deadlines are met and material is printed to the highest quality. This includes helping to establish workflow between the production department and the art department as new processes and procedure arise.
  • Working with our photographer/videographer on photos of products that will be used in packaging and collateral design.
  • Working within a deadline focused environment where quick turn arounds are sometimes necessary
  • Assist with the output of film for flexographic, offset, and silkscreen printing
  • Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Graphic Art or related field with a minimum of 2 years field experience
  • Pre-production knowledge for flexographic, offset and silkscreen printing,
  • Demonstrated design ability with a portfolio of prior projects
  • Excellent knowledge and experience working in Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign) and Microsoft Office on a Mac Platform
  • Experience with both print and web graphics
  • An understanding of the latest design trends and their role within a commercial environment
  • Ability to understand branding and consistency as well as communicating concepts visually
  • Strong typographic abilities
  • Outstanding time management and organizational skills
  • Patience, flexibility, and a willingness to accept direction and constructive feedback
  • Accuracy and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
