Human Resources Generalist/Payroll Specialist


Job Purpose
The H.R. Generalist/Payroll Specialist will be responsible for providing support on all HR Initiatives including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, coordinating and directing human resources policies, programs and practices.
This position requires and extremely detail oriented person with significant knowledge of payroll administration, including state and federal regulations and previous experience working with ADP Workforce Now payroll software.



Summary

Under general direction from the C.F.O., and HR Director the payroll specialist oversees all payroll administration including but not limited to:
Bi-weekly payroll processing, assists Managers/Supervisors in process of obtaining information for payroll production and tax related issues; verifies timesheets and payroll for accuracy, resolves employee questions.


RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
Other duties may also be assigned as needed.

  • Administers all payroll data such as garnishments, vacation time, and insurance and payroll deductions, updating and maintain employee information.
  • Monitors time and attendance information for completeness and accuracy.
  • Contacts department managers for any missing information.
  • Process biweekly payroll into ADP and prepare all reports required for payroll.
  • Works closely with the HR Director to achieve business success
  • Represents HR Department on company-wide initiatives
  • Strong knowledge and management of FMLA, Disability, ADA, Workers Comp and effectively manage leave of absences.
  • Assists to develop and maintain corporate E.E.O. and Affirmative Action goals and policies.
  • Conducts effective recruiting, new hire employee orientation and onboarding
  • Maintain department reports, personnel transaction activity (hires, promotions, transfers, terminations, etc.)
  • Ability to manage Unemployment responses and any hearing involved
  • Answer employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, insurance claims, and enrollments.
  • Partners with managers on corrective actions, performance improvement plans.
  • Prepares the department managers/supervisors for the performance review process.
  • Attends monthly safety meetings if required.
  • Stays current on any recent law changes or updates that affect human resources.
  • Provide support for President, C.F.O. and General Management Team.


Education and Experience:

  • Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or at least 5-7 years of Human Resources experience preferably in the Manufacturing Industry
  • Strong ability to maintain confidentiality; effective interpersonal skills; strong computer and database application skills
  • Organizational and time management skills
  • Good problem analysis and resolution skills
