Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Processes telephone and counter sales calls from customers.
  • Enters sales orders into computer system paying particular attention to request date, ship via, term code, etc.
  • Ensures that customer credit, tax, and certifications are up-to-date and provides appropriate personnel with any changes before finalizing order.
  • Acts as liaison between customer and outside sales representatives.
  • Works with warehouse staff to verify status of physical inventory vs. computer information and coordinates transfer of product from branch to branch when necessary. This functi
  • Follows through with warehouse to ensure that transfers have taken place. This function may not apply to the Plant Department.
  • Notifies operations or branch manager of inventory items that may be low or out of stock. This function may not apply to the Plant Department.
  • Makes certain that all orders are entered in a timely manner, minimizing the occurrence of delayed or missed delivery dates.
  • Notifies customers regarding next day delivery of items on backorder verifies acceptance of substitute items and communicates substituted product to warehouse personnel.
  • Increases knowledge on product line, computer upgrades, and improving processes by reading company newsletters, gazettes, corkboard/e-mail systems, and asking questions.
  • Updates catalog pages and pricing information when changes are posted.
