Communication Strategist needed for part time assignment at University in Princeton:


Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor' s degree, preferably in journalism or a humanities discipline
  • 5+ years' experience in communications or related field.
  • Ability to conceptualize, write and edit strategic, accurate and concise content for university audiences.
  • Ability to visually inspect print and online copy when self-editing or editing the copy of others including experience in creative editing and fact checking techniques.
  • Knowledge of writing styles and guidelines for various media formats and ability to create, coordinate and edit copy for each format (print, digital/social media, video, broadcast, etc.).
  • Understanding of institutional strategy (or ability to quickly assimilate) and ability to integrate the strategy into modes of communication.
  • Ability to supervise and/or coordinate the work of others and responsible for the
  • production of deadline driven high quality product.
  • Ability to constructively edit others' work.
  • Exceptional oral and written communications skills.
  • Ability to prioritize and juggle responsibilities, meet tight deadlines and work on multiple
  • projects simultaneously.
  • Organized and expert problem-solver.
  • Creativity and curiosity in approaching assignments.
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently and also as part of multiple teams.
  • Proven success in managing projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of spelling, grammar, punctuation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft desktop applications (PowerPoint, Word, Excel), web publishing (e.g., Drupal) and social media platforms.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a University setting.
  • Ability to conceptualize, plan and oversee the creation of major publications such as websites, brochures, magazines, etc
