Manufacturing Engineer II

Job description
The Manufacturing Engineer analyzes the current manufacturing processes to define current state, future state and what changes are needed in the tools and work instructions to correct quality issues, reduce process cycle times, improve ergonomics and safety, and ensure process control. Will also define the proper tools (i.e., hand, drill motors, power tools, cutting tools, wrenches, etc., used in the process with an eye for standardizing the tools across their assigned work areas). Will combines their skills to evaluate the manufacturing processes in their assigned area(s) from a holistic view to improve SQDCT.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process Planning: Evaluates the sequence of fabrication/assembly/installation of the product for the assigned area(s) focusing on cycle times, quality, ergonomics, and process control.
  • Technical Interpretation: Analyze/interpret engineering drawings and models to establish efficient manufacturing processes tailored to specific factory areas.
  • Quality Assurance: Support the creation of PFMEAs in assigned area(s), as required, and ensures manufacturing processes comply with industry regulations, customer and site drawings, and specifications.
  • Documentation and Compliance: May create comprehensive visual or written work instructions, Tool Usage Instructions, and Manufacturing Bills of Materials using ERP/PLM systems.
  • Tool Design and Maintenance: May develop concepts for new tooling, improve existing tools, and assist their maintenance to ensure operational readiness.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate within Integrated Product Teams and engage with suppliers and customers to support program development and execution.
  • Configuration Management: Validate assembly configurations using ERP/PLM systems, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related field.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in a similar role within manufacturing.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and experienced with ERP and PLM systems (SAP, Oracle, Teamcenter, Enovia).
  • Familiarity with 3D CAD software ( e.g. CATIA V5/V6, UGNX, or ProE).
  • Experience with large structures and Determinate Assembly (DA) techniques.
  • Ability to read/interpret engineering drawings, models, and specifications.  Training in GD&T Level 1 is preferred, but not required
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to convey complex technical information clearly.
